Stock options are sold by one party to another, that gives the option buyer the right, but not the obligation, to buy or sell a stock at an agreed-upon price within a certain period of time.
Regarding long vs short-term options, we will be focusing on short-term options because those are much more prevalent. Traders will mostly want to keep the option for the short term because of the high premiums associated with keeping a stock option for the long term. If you read the right blog and use the advice appropriately there could be great gains in your future through actual profit, and more important, gains by avoiding pitfalls of losses.
